TIDES has assisted these organizations as their activities scale up or scale down in response to market opportunities. These services allow the organization to manage growth according to their needs and ability to provide products and services. In the expanded business development, TIDES has provided direction in the incorporation of Agritourism activities. On a daily basis, TIDES is responsible for financial, human resource and office management.

Saanich Peninsula Agritourism Development
Under contracts from the Capital Regional Food and Agriculture Initiatives Roundtable (CRFAIR), TIDES has managed the North Saanich Flavour Trail Festival and related Agritourism projects like the Destination Greater Victoria and CHEK News Flavour Trails Agritourism Experiences program series. TIDES developed farm-to-table venue relationships and provided liaison for both the Festival and television series engaging the general public. agricultural community and meeting the agricultural objectives of the District of North Saanich.
TIDES works on the Marathon committee in a variety of project management roles including race director, technical operations, and volunteer coordinator. The highly regarded destination event draws 10,000 participants annually. TIDES provides volunteer and logistics management solutions, including the recruitment and placement of over 1000 volunteers.
Sidney Summit on Habitat and Environment
Along with community colleagues, TIDES helped develop this inaugural event to focus on the Saanich Peninsula region habitat and environment. This team brought together over 15 local non-profit organizations as well as the public to initiate action on a land management plan. As Project and Event Manager, Steve Duck provided logistics, sponsorship and venue coordination.
You Are Where You Eat
Under a grant from BC Healthy Communities, the Saanich Peninsula municipalities hosted a day-long conference focusing on local food production sustainability and security. TIDES coordinated the event’s registration, venue, catering, and program delivery.

Division of Continuing Studies, University of Victoria
The Division of Continuing Studies brought together the full staff to explore strategic directions for the programs and services provided by the Division. TIDES conducted preliminary interviews with participants to identify common themes and understanding. He facilitated small group breakout sessions and full staff team and consensus building activities in delivering the full day program.
College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia
For over twenty years, TIDES acted as the chair pro-tem and parliamentarian for the College of Massage Therapy Annual General Meeting and all Special Meeting. The same services were also delivered to the membership organization, the Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia. Through this time both groups have continually met the challenges of changing health care system structures and responsibilities. TIDES facilitated many difficult meeting situations providing careful guidance.

With the inception of this charitable society in 2018, TIDES’ Steve Duck continues to be instrumental in developing both the board and volunteer team. His role a board chair has allowed the organization to initiate the first fully independent affiliate of Cycling Without Age in Canada, possibly worldwide. As the lead trainer, he is responsible for the design and development of the volunteer training module specific to instruction and certification of “Pilots”. These volunteers provide front-line delivery of the Society’s “active citizenship” services. Steve chairs the National Board of Directors for Cycling Without Age Canada supporting over 80 affiliates across the country.

Freewheeling Adventures
Since 2018, TIDES is the Destination Manager for Freewheeling Adventures on Vancouver Island. TIDES provides logistics, traveller support and transportation for the cycling and hiking tours delivered on Vancouver Island. This includes accommodation management, personalized meet & greet, fast & efficient transfers and luggage handling. In addition, guests are provided optional additional tours, customized itineraries and recommendations on local highlights and food services.
For ten years, Steve Duck was a Backroads Trip Specialist in Italy, Belize, Western Canada, Vancouver Island & the Gulf Islands. In this role, he was responsible for researching and managing tours involving hiking, biking kayaking and other activities. This work included identifying quality vendors, negotiating service contracts, developing strong vendor relations to insure the delivery of five star adventure packages. Steve has established long term relationships with top hotels, restaurants and activity providers around the world.
Boutique Travel Design
This company, the predecessor of TIDES Travel, specialized in providing custom travel plans for individuals, couple and groups to Italy, New Zealand, Africa, Costa Rica, and Vancouver Island & the Gulf Islands. Travellers looking for that special gourmet destination, romantic getaway or family gathering would consult with Steve Duck and his associates across the different regions to develop those special unique journeys. Travellers could either take on the adventure themselves, be connected with local guides or utilize the services of a professional tour escort.
